TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES News For Friday (Holy Crap, It’s Been A While… Edition)
It’s Friday again here at the Sarah Connor Society and you know what that means, don’t you?
Well, if you guessed “bad puns and more TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES links that you can chuck a coyote at to get you psyched for tonight’s all-new episode of TSCC” then you’d be right. But before we get started, I want to take a moment to say thank you to the Sarah Connor Society’s kickass co-webmasters Erika and Kate for single (dual?) handedly updating the site over the last two weeks when simultaneous technical failures knocked both Kris (internet connection) and me (computer) offline during the avalanche of interview, videos and pics following Wondercon. Karma guys.
Now, without further ado, courtesy of The Futon Critic, here’s the log line and cast list for tonight’s BRAND NEW episode of TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES:

For those who need a quick refresher (although if you were thinking about anything other than who Winston was talking to on his cell while Sarah Connor chewed her way out of her handcuff, SHAME ON YOU!), here’s a handful of reviews of “Some Must Watch While Some Must Sleep” to help jog your memory:
IGN takes what could be considered a controversial stance when they say “‘Some Must Watch…’ has, in my eyes, now elevated Lena Headey into the definitive Sarah Connor. She’s had so much more time to add dimension to this character and to portray all of her various levels. I was surprised to hear that she has never killed anyone. You’d think at some point in Central America, she would have had to off some scumbag sniffing around. Nonetheless, it was a compelling choice to follow Sarah as she tries to make peace with what she did.”
Thank You For Explaining considers the similarities between “Some Must Watch…” and the incident from Hamlet that lends the episode its name:
The title comes from Act Three, Scene Two of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, which is a study of that titular character’s decent into madness…. Like Hamlet, this episode of the Sarah Connor Chronicles examines a tortured mind seemingly undone by high crimes against her person and humanity. A drugged Sarah alternates between dream and waking states but cannot distinguish between the two. This impasse is broken at the end, and she (and we) uncover the true reality. Sarah then takes control of her reality, and decisively kills her tormentor for the first and final time.
My homegirl, Sarah Connor Society forum admin, in-house action-figure maker and satirist, RoxyB, got some love from the official blog for her write-up, “The Idiot’s Guide To Sarah’s Transformation“. If you like The Sarah Connor Comicals, you’ll defiinitely like RoxyB’s tongue-firmly-inserted-in-cheek breakdown of Sarah Connor’s mental state over the course of the series.
If you haven’t read it yet, take a minute to enjoy the latest Comical, episode 14, “The Good Wound“.
In cast news, Thomas Dekker spoke to TV Addict about the changes to the ending of his upcoming movie, My Sister’s Keeper, from the novel:
“While the ending may piss fans of the book off. I did finally see a cut of the film a couple of weeks ago and loved it.” revealed Dekker in an exclusive one-on-one with the TV Addict. “I was actually surprised, because you’re treading on territory that could be really “Hallmark-ey” or “Lifetime-ey” and it didn’t feel like that. Nick Cassevetes [the director] has a very dark sensibility about everything and I think that it events it out.”
From Ecorazzi, Dekker on why he’s a vegetarian:
“When I was about eight years old, I stumbled on a pig factory. After seeing what went on there, I immediately gave up all pig products. Then, four years later, I asked myself the obvious question: ‘Why am I not eating pigs, but still eating other animals?’ So at that point I gave it all up.”
I salute Dekker’s choice but this is why I refuse to read Fast Food Nation – ignorance, and the occasional cheeseburger, is bliss.
If you follow the Official TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES Blog, then you know that in addition to acting, writing, directing, and writing and composing his own music, Thomas Dekker is also an amateur photographer. Dekker_Daily has a short interview with their polymath namesake about his photography here.
Laid To Rest, the upcoming slasher film from TSCC’s resident make-up wizard Rob Hall, starring Dekker, Lena Headey and TSCC guest-star Bobbi Sue Luther, looks to be Fangoria’s April cover story.
The issue will also have a Terminator Salvation feature.
Lest you think we’re resting on our laurels, we’ve also got info on the DVD release from MovieWeb and a gallery of pics from ShockTillYouDrop to sate your inner serial killer.
Meanwhile, if you ever wanted to see Lena Headey make out with Daniel Craig, TVShowsOnDVD is reporting that E1 Entertainment will be releasing season one of the late-90s horror anthology The Hunger on DVD June 2nd. Headey and Craig costarred in the episode “Menage a Trois”.
Summer Glau will be guesting as herself on The Big Bang Theory this Monday, March 9th. Glau and Josh Friedman talked to HitFix about the experience:
“They’re very different,” Glau laughed. “I think that I was playing myself, but I was trying to be funny, they tried to make me funny. I was nervous, because it’s supposed to be about how I respond to people who know my work as Cameron, so I was concerned about how people might perceive that. But I was honored to work with such talented actors.”
A FOX star going on CBS to effectively plug her role on said FOX show seems a little unusual, but both “Big Bang Theory” and “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” are Warner Brothers TV productions (and CBS probably wouldn’t figure “T:SCC” is much of a threat to its Friday supremacy).
“Bill Prady and I are friends,” added “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” creator Josh Friedman. “He’d done a couple little shout-outs over the last season, done one or two things. When I talked to him, he said, ‘Do you think Summer would want to play Summer?’ The script was really funny and the idea was really funny. I was at the read-through and I wanted to go when they were actually shooting, but I thought it would be a little weird. I didn’t want to be like the protective parent, the stage dad or something.”
The Sarah Connor Society has clips and promo pics from the episode here and here.
Not satisfied to creep the hell out of me with is performance as John Henry, Garret Dillahunt’s slasher remake, LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT, opens next Friday, March 13th (did we really need two in one year, God?). From JoBlo, we have many pictures of Dillahunt and the cast doing very bad things. BoxOfficeProphets and ShockTillYouDrop interviewed the cast and if that doesn’t leave you sufficiently unnerved, you can always visit the movie’s official site.
To round out news of our metal trio, Iain Shedden, a columnist for online paper, The Australian, is having nightmares about Shirley Manson (Manson, a nightmare? Surely you jest):
What provoked this nightmare was a viewing of the new season of sci-fi television series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, in which Manson, in a consistently threatening tone, plays Catherine Weaver, a company executive with a secret agenda that does not bode well for her employees, or indeed mankind.
For someone with little acting experience Manson, 42, is surprisingly convincing in the role, not least when she … well, let’s just say she’s adaptable.
Speaking of Ms. Manson, she will be hosting a live event in LA on Monday, March 9th, to celebrate the release of U2’s new album, No Line on the Horizon.
In general news, The Playstation Blog announced that TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES second season will be available on PlayStation Network March 10th.
ComicBookResources has one last WonderCon write-up to tide you over until ComicCon.
At WonderCon, Josh Friedman wondered about TSCC’s demographics. Well, Mr. Friedman, according to TorrentFreak, TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES was the 4th most pirated show of 2008 and the 6th most pirated show of the last week. Combined with TSCC’s massive DVR audience, it’s clear that TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES is near and dear to the hearts of gadget lovers and pirates, whether male or female, everywhere.
Finally, Kevin Reilly, President of Fox Entertainment, spoke to The Hollywood Reporter yesterday as part of their annual feature on pilot season. Reilly had this to say when asked about TSCC/Dollhouse on Friday nights:
THR: Can “Terminator” or “Dollhouse” financially make sense as broadcast shows next season if their ratings don’t improve?
Reilly: Advertisers have liked the shows. Both shows are doing well on a c7 basis. It’s too early to rule them out.
The Sarah Connor Society has been pretty vocal about our belief that the current ratings system doesn’t accurately reflect viewership in an era when DVRs and streaming video exponentially increase the audience’s viewing options, not just in terms of when people are watching but where, how and who, from the TIME Magazine columnist who watches TSCC on his iPhone while on the subway to the office flunky (who shall go unnamed *cough*) who likes to rewatch episodes on FOX.com at her desk, more people watch TV without ever turning on a television set than ever before.
But only a fraction of those viewers are counted by the Nielsens.
So if you watch TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES and you’re not a Nielsen viewer, take a moment to write FOX Broadcasting and let them know that you’re watching. You can write care of
Kevin Reilly, President
