Garret Dillahunt talks “Last House on the Left”

Friday, October 9th, 2009

dillahunt200Q: What makes THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT different from other horror movies that are out there?

A: Some of those films are like video games where you almost root for the killers because they don’t feel real, but this movie is different because you really want the good guys to survive.

Q: Which are your favorite films of the genre?

A: I enjoy movies like THE EXORCIST, ROSEMARY’S BABY, or THE CHANGELING.

Q: What kinds of people scare you in real life?

A: The loud mouth guys don’t scare me, but the ones that are quiet do, because they are like snakes.

Garret Dillahunt’s Everywhere

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

12garret_dillahunt_20090114 Our favorite Terminator/AI is beginning his invasion of television this week. You can watch him at 9PM on Thursday on CSI: New York.

Also soon he’ll be appearing on LAW AND ORDER SVU in A story about pedophilia features Rosie Perez as a mother who fears her second husband (Garret Dillahunt) is sexually abusing her sonTV Guide. (Can I just say yuck?)

Former TSCC Alum Brendan Hines chatted w/ Digital Spy about his character on LIE TO ME. He mentioned Garret’s appearance on that show. “We’ve got Garret Dillahunt, too. He’s fantastic and he shows up and causes all kinds of trouble”

And it looks like he might be appearing in ESQUIRE magazine. Staff Writer Chris Jones apparently felt like an excited fanboy taking to Garret recently.

He’s the one actor I will seek. It’s become a game for me to spot him, this jaw-strong man who jumps out only because he’s so close to invisible. He can look vastly different depending on how he holds his mouth or eyelids, and he can sound like a hick or an aristocrat by putting just the gentlest shoulder to his naturally nowhere accent. Southern? Northwestern? That’s why I like him: He’s never one thing or the other, except a wheelhouse actor for me.

If Dillahunt has a single spoken line, I will drive 1,000 miles to watch him say it. He plays a psycho named Krug in The Last House on the Left — “Do you want to hear what I did to your daughter?” — and I see my first horror movie in 20 years. Other people will go see The Road this month because they love Cormac McCarthy or Viggo Mortensen, and I’ll go because Dillahunt has a small part as an anonymous gang member.

“I’ve got a nice mullet in that,” he says when we talk, and I giggle like a dumbstruck crush.

1 (3) The release date for Garret’s film THE ROAD has been pushed back AGAIN.

Sci-Fi Wire is reporting that the “film adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s Pulitzer-winning post-apocalyptic sci-fi story has been bumped again, to Nov. 25 from its previous Oct. 16 release date, Dimension announced.”

World chaos on Thanksgiving – sure that’s a winning box office combo.

Garret Dillahunt to appear on LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

1 (3)I just love that Garret has no problems playing icky, nasty people.

Rosie Perez and Garret Dillahunt will square off on an explosive episode of Law & Order: SVU this fall about pedophiles’ rights, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.

On the fifth episode of the new season, Dillahunt (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles’ Cromartie, No Country for Old Men) will play the head of a pedophilia organization (think NAMBLA — or, you know, don’t). “It’s called ‘Hardwired,’” executive producer Neal Baer says, “because they believe that pedophilia is [a genetic predestination].”

Baer says the writers had the Oscar-nominated Perez (Do the Right Thing, Fearless) in mind when they wrote the role of a young sexual abuse victim’s mother. “I think you’ll be surprised by her performance,” he teases.

Law & Order: SVU returns for its 11th season on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 9/8c on NBC.
