The GRIMM FAIRY TALES Animated Series will be based on Zenescope Entertainment’s popular comic book series of the same name. What makes this situation unique is that Zenescope has teamed with Titmouse Animation Studio and Director Jon Schnepp (Metalocalypse, The Venture Bros.) to bypass the traditional film studio system by seeking funding for the animated series through popular website Kickstarter.com (http://kck.st/wjSM8D ). The project is live on Kickstarter now until May 1st, 2012 and has a pledge goal of $175,000.

“We set the goal of the animated series at 175K because we wanted to give our fans and those supporting the Kickstarter a high-quality product.” Explains Zenescope Marketing Manager Stephen Haberman “We’re hiring Titmouse, one of the premiere animation studios in the world, to handle the animation. We have Jon Shnepp directing and now with Lena and Briana joining the project, we’re able to take it to another level.”

“Crowd-funding can be a powerful tool. We’ve seen some really projects find funding through Kickstarter and it’s a game changer.” Said Zenescope’s Editor-in-Chief, Ralph Tedesco “It gives us a chance to make this series the way our fans want to see it be made. We’re about a third of the way there with funding and hopefully now with the all of the talent we’ve brought on board fans will see that this can be an amazing project to back.”

I Hate Love

You can hear a preview of I Hate Love in the below video. While the band have been releasing instrumental snippets of songs via their Facebook page, this is the first time we’ve gotten to hear Shirley Manson’s vocals. All video artwork was submitted by fans and the video was released on Valentine’s Day.

Garbage have launched a brand new website at www.garbage.com in preparation for their album release this spring. The Tumblr based website will include the most up to date info on releases, press, videos, live shows, TV appearances, etc. The band is expected to announce the album release date in the coming week.

They’ve also announced a contest, running through 9 AM EST (GMT -05:00) on January 30. Guess the as yet unannounced album title and you could win tickets to a gig. Full details are at garbage.com.

Anchor Bay Picks Up Michael Biehn’s Directorial Debut ‘The Victim’.

The “Aliens” actor also co-wrote and stars in the thriller.

Anchor Bay has picked up the North American rights to The Victim, a suspense thriller starring Aliens and Terminator actor Michael Biehn. Biehn also wrote the script and made his directorial debut with this pic.

The story sees a woman’s life put in jeopardy when she witnesses a violent act by two deputies. When feeling her pursuers, she stumbles across a recluse (Biehn) living in the woods, upending his solitary life.

Jennifer Blanc-Biehn, Danielle Harris, Ryan Honey, and Denny Kirkwood make up the main cast of what is being described as a grindhouse picture.

No release details were given but a theatrical run is being planned as is a college tour.

Victim was executive produced by Brock Morse, Morgan Johnson and Ryan Honey and produced by Blanc-Biehn, Lorna Paul and Travis Romero. Preferred Content repped the film.

Victim is the third Biehn film being released by Anchor Bay. The company is opening post-apocalyptic thriller The Divide on January 13 and last year featured the actor in its horror movie Bereavement.

Garbage have announced their first confirmed world tour dates in 7 years. They’re playing St. Petersburg, Russia on May 11 and will travel to Moscow for a show on May 12. Says the band:

We are beyond thrilled to revisit Russia where we have played to incredible and memorable crowds over the years, where we have seen so many wonderous things and met so many lovely fans.

The cover is included on (Ǎhk-to͝ong Bāy-Bi) Covered, which celebrates the 20th anniversary of U2′s Achtung Baby. All album proceeds benefit Concern, an international humanitarian organization fighting hunger and poverty in some of the poorest parts of the world.
